The epic Seth Godin, a marketing mastermind, just posted this:
“If you hesitate to map out your future, to make a big plan or to set a goal, you’ve just gone ahead and mapped your future anyway.”
What Seth says here is so important for everyone and everything.
Because 99,9% of people make zero effort to map out their future. And they don’t realize that what will be in their future is what’s coming at them. From circumstances.
It’s coming at them instead of creating it. A victim of circumstance instead of a creator of possibility.
This week I was talking to an entrepreneur who hesitated to invest in coaching because he “wanted to wait until he was ready”. I showed him that this thinking was exactly what got in his way. He believes that he has to be ‘ready” first. And until that “ready” moment he waited.
But guess what… You’re never “ready” when you wait for circumstances to be right.
I’m a firm believer in “how you do one thing is how you do everything”. Meaning, when you hesitate with 1 thing you hesitate on so many things. Important things. And it’s invisible for you like water for a fish.
And so “Hesitation” HAS you. “Procrastination” HAS you. “Doubt” HAS you. “Waiting” HAS you. You’re powerless in the face of these things because you make them real, like an object. And the only place they exist is in your own imagination.
If you let that come at you, more of it will be in your future because it’s a blindspot.
And you cannot change things you cannot see!
But only always.
